On the evening of 11th December, Rhetorique—KMC’s public speaking club—held the first edition of Raj Neeti. The Interact Lecture Hall transformed into a Parliament House, where politicians in sharp outfits and even sharper tongues engaged in intense debates on the Indian government’s regulatory oversight and lack of accountability. With the Modi government defending its “best possible efforts” during the Manipur riots, Mamata Banerjee justifying women’s safety in Bengal, Akhilesh Yadav defending his father’s remarks, and Shashi Tharoor questioning how his wife’s death was relevant to the topic, chaos erupted across the House.

The battle of words further escalated when the Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, was kidnapped by local goons live in the Sabha. The Chairs struggled to maintain decorum, rapporteurs raced to keep up with the fiery dialogues, and DD News reporters grappled with fact verification.

Politics is often perceived as a pursuit of power, but amidst the chaos, Raj Neeti reminded us that it is also a matter of principle.
