The KMC Manipal Radiotherapy Department organised a walkathon on the 24th of September, 2025.
People from lower socioeconomic backgrounds often refuse cancer treatment due to a belief that the harmful radiation a cancer patient is exposed to is more dangerous than the disease itself.
The purpose of this walkathon was to raise awareness of the importance of this treatment, especially in opposition to the stigma surrounding it.
The walkathon was a success, with over forty people attending. At the end of the event, participants were asked to make an imprint of their thumbs upon the picture of a tree, which was meant to represent unity. They also had the chance of getting their pictures taken via Photo Booth, a souvenir for this memorable occasion.
